SoccerStadium4Before the upcoming Brazil 2014 World Cup, there have been 19 other World Cups, the first dating back to 1930. It was hosted by Uruguay. This World Cup was the only one not to include the qualifying rounds. Thirteen countries played in the first Word Cup. Four European teams were involved: Belgium, France, Romania, and Yugoslavia. The other nine countries that participated were Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and the United States. The first World Cup match took place on July 13th, 1930 with France playing against Mexico. France ended up beating Mexico 4-1 and moved on into the competition.
